DIRTY or DOTTY Picture?

NEWS:
The government has finally agreed to telecast the movie “The Dirty Picture” after editing and omitting it umpteen number of times. The new version is made after 59 cuts.

BACKGROUND:
The national award winning film was banned for TV telecast. The raison d’être was the sensuous and sizzling scenes casted.

MY OPINION:
Our “sarkar” is so very concerned about what is shown on television. The point they miss out is that the majority of the population has watched the original movie in cinemas. So, what exactly is the purpose of using their scissors only for the television telecast? For a moment I'll assume that they don’t want the obscenity to reach the households. Why did they not then curb the bollywood directors and producers from making such films?Well, in my opinion, I don’t mind if they do so. It would help in discouraging such explicit display of sexuality. But the problem is that it won’t abstain exposure of the youth from the “frighteningly liberating or distracting” thoughts. I BELIEVE, THE SCISSOR SNIPS OF THE SARKAR WON’T CHANGE THE SCENARIO. The 59 cuts ordered by the government could possibly make the movie an incoherent mix of bizarre video shots. Well, all we would be getting is abrupt scenes, disturbing dashes and blazing beeps.
The adulteration of innocent citizenry can’t be curbed by censored movies. It can be ensured with the help of rich moral education. The strength of the tree(no matter how vast it is) lies in the roots, they say.If the bringing up has built in the proper moral values and principles in your character, then even the the toughest tides (the worst possible aversions) can’t influence you. After all, we need to realize that the modernisation of culture is at its highest pace. The western world has stung the Indian traditions worse than a buzzing bee. So,I repeat that these snips and snaps are too trivial an issue for the government to be worried about. And,yes, with the dwindling investor confidence, lowering GDP and falling rupee, why are our leaders engaged in “The Dirty Picture” ??

But then spice can be made out of everything and government just wants to show their “concern” for the citizenry – so be it!

Till then , let’s get ready to see the “cleaner” DIRTY picture.

  2. I totally agree with you..editing the movie before its television telecast does not make any sense as the maximum portion of public has already seen the unedited version of it in movie halls..if the government really wants to stop the obscenity from reaching the public..it should do something about it before its release..

Jo, you there?

Jo sat down on her table, the one beside the window. She could see her mother nourish the plants in the garden with water, just the way she had nurtured her daughters to be the women they are now. Grateful for the blessings, she turned to pen the thoughts welling up in her mind. Today, it was about ‘LOVE’ to her 50 year old self. ------ Dear oldie Jo, Hope you have your perfectly brewed coffee by your side! Love to you was an unknown notion-something that wasn’t much heard of during dinner table conversations or talked about in school or college. Like the rest, you did hear your pals and peers talk about it and experience it based on their instinct. While you understood the mindspace they came from, you didn’t feel the need to experiment. In the early years of adulthood, love seemed too superfluous to you. And in some proportions, you considered it as a distraction that would take you away from yourself and your family. Without judging others, you still felt very sure

A girl like you

A frantic nudge on the back was enough to wake me up and disturb my deep peaceful slumber time. Before I realised, it was my sister who had seen a bad dream and wanted me to help her go back to sleep. I hugged her closer to myself and mumbled to her that tomorrow morning will be better than today. Within a few minutes, she was asleep on my arm and I kept looking at her 10-year old face for a long time. I wished, then, that she always remain this close to me as she was at that moment. Till now, my wish has unfolded into an eventful journey.  If I was gentle and all nice, she was all about sass, jazz and spice; If I was reserved and introverted, she was social and ‘Noddy’–incarnated;  If I liked uni-colour cloth patches, she carried shiny dresses with unmatched panache; If I found peace in nature and solitude, she preferred blaring music and lots of DJ dance; If I savoured plain idli and chutney, she gormandized on mysore masala dosa and spicy sambar. The two of us have
